A speedway motorcycle is a bit special. You have no brakes and on 500 machines, there is neither a gear box. The junior 80cc bikes have gear box, but you mainly use two gears. Also there is no rear suspension. So, it´s a very stripped down machine, the easiest maintained and most inexpensive motorsport!
Licens and other conditions
To compete you must qualify for a competition licens. This confirms you know the rules and can handle a speedway bike. You must also be member of a club which gives you access to a track, practising time and help from fellow enthusiasts. Safety is always essential. We use protection wear of proven quality. Drivers safety wear and bike is inspected before every competition.
Juniors must have a guardian attending, which often is a mom and dad, but it can be some other adult.
Fellowship
In a speedway club you share the space with all ages from kids to veterans. There is always someone ready to help you out. You share little tips and experiences.
Speedway is tough races with lots of adrenaline. But it´s also a chance for young ones and grown ups to have a great time together.
Welcome to our elementary speedway school.
Competitions
Speedway, also called flattrack, is a special type of motorcycle racing. You simply go sliding round the corners of an oval track.
A race is divided in "heats" with four laps, where four drivers meet.
There are two main categories: 500cc bikes which you´re alligible for racing the year you become 16. Competitions for junior bikes with 85cc engines is open when you reach 12. But, you can start practise whenever you feel ready.
There are national as well as international championships. Though we have individual competitions, speedway is mainly a team sport.
